Welcome to Day 1 of The BIG Experience, a 2-week caravanning trip from Melbourne to the South Coast of NSW, showcasing the many opportunities you can experience through a caravanning and camping holiday.

First stop was Domaine Chandon in the beautiful Yarra Valley, which offered spectacular views across the vineyard and valley to the mountains.

Stevie and the weather team of the 'Today' Show spent a blissful morning enjoying local wines, a BBQ and a beautiful flight over the Yarra Valley in a hot air balloon, this is something you must experience when visiting this famous region!

Today marked the second day of our BIG Experience Road Trip and boy did we have an awesome one!

Beautiful coastline and breathtaking scenery surrounded our drive to Phillip Island from Yarra Valley and we even made a new friend, admiring our Winnebago from a distance!

We spent the morning at the Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm, testing our fishing skills. Our friendly fishing instructor, Paul Mannix taught us what we need to know when it comes to trout fishing, but Stevie definitely didn't have any luck and struggled to get a bite! Oh Well, at least most the kids caught something!

Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm is a guaranteed hit for the entire family. They have many options for your catch, it all depends on whether you want to take it home or eat at the park. Their very own chef can also ook your catch, or alternately they can prepare your fish so you can cook it on one of the barbecues located in the park!

Often the route to a happy family is an actual road. Nothing brings a family closer together than the great Australian tradition of a road trip, escaping from the daily distractions that clutter our lives. Caravanning and camping can open up a world of possibilities for adventure and travel.  While getting out and seeing this great country of ours, why not be active, go fishing and truly experience what caravanning and camping is all about!

Now, for your chance to win a family pass to the Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm and experience some great fishing, simply LIKE Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm Facebook Page and send your full name and postal details to thebigexperience@crva.com.au. We will be giving away 10 FAMILY PASSES (2 adults and 2 kids) valued at $34.00 each! We will draw the winners by the end of the week. Good Luck!!!

All smiles at the Rhyll Trout & Bush Tucker Farm

Why the gloomy face Stevie? It's ok... you'll get a bite soon!

That's more like it! Stevie and some happy campers with their catch of the day!

Paul of Rhyll Trout & Bush Tucker Farm definitely loves Caravanning and Camping! We do as well!

Hello fellow caravanners and campers!

Today, we found ourselves walking through time as we explored Coal Creek Village located in Korumburra in the beautiful South Gippsland and what a morning we had!

We started off with a breakfast at the popular Pig N Whistle cafe and Stevie even got served by a guy dressed like Dracula!

Then we had a tour of the General Store which displays some of Victoria’s finest demonstrations of yesteryear while the staff and volunteers were dressed in period costume. We also met some amazing primary school kids and how about those old school iPads?

Did we mention the donkey? He was the most popular celebrity of the morning!

Coal Creek Heritage Village is an outdoor Museum illustrating the regions heritage between 1870 - 1920. It's definitely worth checking out when you're on the road, so make sure you plan a visit here on your next caravanning and camping trip!

What a cutie? Baby Isabella and Stevie

We Love Caravanning and Camping as well!

Today marked the 4th day of our Caravanning and Camping Road Trip across Vic and NSW, and there’s no better place to end the Victorian leg of our trip than Inverloch!

The town itself sits on the coast at the mouth of Anderson Inlet, fronting the calm waters of this sheltered inlet and also the open waters of Venus Bay in Bass Strait.

We explored Inverloch’s main foreshore reserve which extends from the commercial centre down to the beach at the entrance to Andersons Inlet, and found some of the most interesting activities and fun activities Inverloch has to offer.

In the morning, we enjoyed some scrumptious food served by Chef Tony Richardson from Vela9 Restaurant who also performed a cooking demonstration with Stevie.

Mike Cleeland from the Bunurong Environment Centre also came by,  who talked about the latest Dinosaur Dig in Inverloch (Check out our new dinosaur friend below!)

The great part of this caravanning and camping road trip is meeting new, friendly faces along the way and Inverloch has plenty of them!

For those planning a visit, Inverloch also offers a wide range of aquatic activities including kite surfing, fishing, diving, and inlet swimming for the entire family.

If you are looking at a place to stay while in the area, BIG4 Inverloch Holiday Park situated on Anderson Inlet, provides a complete range of accommodation options. They offer a range of Cabins to suit all budgets, ranging from 4 star Luxury Villas, Spa Units, self contained Deluxe Holiday Units, and Ensuite Cabins.

Don't forget, our Caravanning and Camping Roadtrip heads into NSW from tomorrow with the Weekend Today broadcasting the weather direct from the NSW Caravan, Camping, RV & Holiday Supershow in Rosehill tomorrow (Saturday 21 April).

The NSW Caravan, Camping, RV and Holiday Supershow starts tomorrow, Saturday 21 April and runs through to Friday 29 April at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and we have 4 double passes to this event to give away. Simply like We Love Caravanning and Camping Facebook Page and send your postal details to thebigexperience@crva.com.au. We will announce the winners by Tuesday, 23 April! Good luck everyone!

Today marked the 5th day of our caravanning and camping roadtrip and our first day in the South Coast of NSW!

We found ourselves 'glamping' in the beautiful NRMA Beach Holiday Park, right on the cliffs of Merimbula Beach with the most magnificent and breathtaking views.

With wrap around balconies, spa baths, plasma TVs with DVD players, air conditioning and all the modern conveniences of home, this was definitely glamping at its best!

The morning was very eventful, from Stevie learning how to 'shuck' some oysters to vintage cars invading the park! Cheeky Mango cafe even made the nicest Today Show cupcakes!

Merimbula has long been known as a premium holiday destination with sparkling clean beaches, whale watching, National Parks and forests offering stunning waterfalls and natural water slides; it's no wonder we are the jewel of the Sapphire Coast. If you are visiting this region, make sure to check out NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park. Just a short walk to an unspoiled beach and adjacent lake, NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park will have you coming back time and time again! A view of the ocean is almost guaranteed with 90% of their accommodation and some ensuite and powered sites offering magical water views.

Welcome to Jindabyne!

We woke up in the beautiful town of Jindabyne this morning (with a rainbow welcoming us!) to continue our caravanning and camping roadtrip, and boy was it cold!

Regardless of the cold weather, the spectacular views and crisp, fresh mountain air there were definitely hard to beat!

We filmed the weather segments at the very popular Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery located off the Alpine Way between Thredbo and Jindabyne overlooking the peaks of Kosciuszko National Park's Snowy Mountains.

Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery was a lot of fun! The Distillery is located on a few acres of landscaped grounds and is surrounded with sculptures, polished granites and even the odd fibreglass horse!

We have tried butterscotch schnapps before, but theirs sure was truly special! Some other favourites were the Pink Lady Apple, Sour Apple and Lemon, and the very popular 'Devil's Tongue' (chilli combined with pink lady apple and cinnamon!)

Inside the Distillery, there is a certain old style ski lodge feel to it. And yes, there are even homemade pretzels hanging from a deer antler light shade!

While there you can also explore the Snowy Wilderness, an acclaimed holiday destination you will never forget! Adjoining Kosciusko National Park the Snowy Mountains Resort is set on 7,500 acres of wilderness high country.  Experience a horse riding adventure featuring breathtaking views, in the tradition of the Man from Snowy River, go quad biking, 4WD touring, trekking or brumby spotting.

If you are thinking of visiting this region on your next caravanning and camping holiday, consider staying at the Jindabyne Holiday Park, situated on the foreshore of Lake Jindabyne and just across the road from the town's retail centre.

Lest We Forget... Anzac Day in Batemans Bay

Many people across Bateman's Bay rugged up and commemorated Anzac Day this morning.

With heads quietly bowed, we all remembered the many men and women who served with pride, dignity and distinction to defend our way of life.

After the weather segments with Stevie, thousands turned up for the Batemans Bay Anzac Day ceremony, and hundreds marched proudly down the main street.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

LEST WE FORGET

A cricket experience like no other!

Today is the 2nd last day of our caravanning and camping road trip with Stevie Jacobs and the weather team of the Today Show, and so far we have travelled quite a distance visiting some fascinating caravanning and camping destinations across Victoria and the South Coast of NSW.

We explored the Southern Highlands this morning, which is well known for its colourful gardens, leisurely pursuits, diverse landscape and history!

The weather segments were filmed at the famous International Cricket Hall of Fame, a place which brings cricket to life, with an exhibition that shows the importance of cricket not just to Australia but to the world.

Started from a vision held by Sir Donald Bradman the International Cricket Hall of Fame utilises interactive screens, large format video presentations and a wide range of displays to illustrate the importance of this great and wonderful game.

We would like to say thank you to the enthusiastic crowd that came by and said hello this morning, especially to wonderful kids that came by and played cricket with us!

If you are planning to visit the area, Mittagong Caravan Park is the place to stop and stay when in the southern highlands.  Book into one of their on-site cabins or choose from drive through powered or unpowered sites.

For the past 2 weeks, we have been driving to some of the most exciting and interesting destinations between the Yarra Valley in Victoria through to the South Coast of NSW, finally ending our adventure in Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park located in Seven Mile Beach, Gerroa (NSW).
